Discover the Top Five Must-Tries at Manang Pika

Updated: Apr 22

Ramen, Birria, tacos and sisig?!

Everyone who first travels to Guam always wonders one thing "Where can I eat good food when I'm on Guam?" Your solution is simple, Manang Pika! Manang Pika is unique in that they are a fusion restaurant, blending the culinary cultures from the Philippines and Mexican cuisine. Two cultures, two cuisines, and one great experience. Manang Pika started from their home kitchen and transitioned to a food truck, but with high traffic and demand, they opened up their restaurant at the beginning of this year! The people of Guam will say they have the best Birria tacos. In this post, we'll share five must-try foods at Manang Pika before you leave!

BaoBoy

Inspired by classic Chinese cuisine. Soft and fluffy, each bao is rolled and made in-house. In comparison to bread now made with preservatives, their bao is not only healthier but made fresh daily. Manang Pika's Bao Boy is stuffed with juicy, succulent, and limey pork sisig. Pork sisig is a famous Filipino dish made using chopped pork topped with chili peppers and onions. Due to high demand, they only have a limited supply. The rarity of this menu item is what makes it number one.

Birria Tacos

Manang Pika's twist on the viral food founded in Tijuana, Mexico. Their Birria taco alone amassed a cult following in Guam. Tender, slow-cooked beef, marinated in herbs and spices that fall apart. However, the meat isn't the only highlight of this dish, it is also the consomme you use to dip your taco in. The consomme is warm and fragrant, using the same broth that the beef was slow-cooked with. Dip your taco into the broth, allowing it to soak up the savory goodness before you take your bite!

Poke Nacho

Envision the perfect blend of Hawaiian flavors and Tex-Mex flair. Picture this, a bed of crispy, golden-brown wonton chips with a mound of vibrant sushi-grade poke on top. Drizzled with sriracha mayo and kabayaki sauce. This is the perfect meal for any pescatarians who want to join their friends at the restaurant but can't eat any of their meat options. Each bite is a symphony of flavors and textures, a blend of sweet, savory, spicy, and crunchy—a poke nacho experience that's truly unforgettable.

Birria Ramen

Birria ramen is the epitome of fusion dishes. Combining the rich, savory flavors of traditional Mexican birria with the comforting warmth of Japanese ramen. If this isn't fusion I don't know what is. It is such a comforting meal and yet very unique, incomparable to anything you would have had before. You can squeeze some lime into your birria ramen to cut out the bold flavors making it refreshing and tasty. It is so hearty and warm, perfect for anyone who is lactose intolerant or trying to cut down on cheese. Currently, Manang Pika is the only restaurant in Guam serving up Birria Ramen.

Birria Nacho

The portion sizing of the birria nacho at Manang Pika is beyond generous. Topped with their tender, fall-apart beef birria, and melty cheddar cheese. One pet peeve we have about nachos is that they get soggy in little time. However, Manang Pika's nachos stay crispy for a long time. You'll also rarely see nachos with such a generous amount of beef topped onto them!

If you love Mexican food, Asian food, or any kind of fusion food; Manang Pika is the place for you! It's family-friendly and their expansive drink menu is not only fun, but tasty as well! Go during Happy Hour for their three-dollar tacos, with their five-dollar tamarindo drink! Not only are the vibes immaculate, but the food is exceptionally good as well. Happy eating!
